Albert B. Stassi

Albert B. Stassi, 92, of Rockford, passed away March 17, 2018 at Serenity Hospice in Oregon. Born May 28, 1925 in Rockford; he was the son of Joseph and Josephine (Provanzano) Stassi. He married Lucille M. Montalbano, the love of his life on November 6, 1948 in Rockford. They were married for 57 years until her death on November 18, 2005.
An Army Veteran of WWII, Al was a graduate of West High School and the former owner of Stassi Electric. He was member of Kepotah Sportsman’s Club, a charter member of Plug & Pellet Sportsman’s Club and St. Bridget Catholic Church.
Al’s incredible courage and strength to overcome the obstacles in his life, along with his positive attitude and his determination to be independent, made him a true inspiration to his family, friends and everyone around him.
His greatest joy was having his great-grandchildren around him to laugh and tease with.
Survivors include his children, Joe (Debbie) Stassi and JoMarie (Bob) Branson; grandchildren, Mike (Kaysie), Steven and John Stassi, Teresa (Justin) Schroeder, Tom and Carl Palmgren, Tammy (Chuck) Fox and Barbara (Joe) Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Carson and Willow Stassi, Nicholas, Nina, Jacob, Hunter, Hayden, Ashton, Skylar, Rob, Kristen, Andy, Lucy, Adam and Megan; sisters, Therese (George) Linksy and Annette Gianesin; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his daughter, Christine Stassi; sisters, Albena Basile and Josephine Stassi; brother, Paul Stassi; brothers-in-law, Sam Basile and Eno Gianesin.
We, the family, give special thanks to the Alpine Fireside staff for the care they gave with kindness and compassion to Dad.
Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Online condolences may be submitted at fitzgeraldfh.com
