Anna A. "Ann" Sherbine, 86, Rockford, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, Monday, October 10, 2011, at Bickford Assisted Living Home.She was born June 25, 1925, in Rockford, the daughter of Vincent and Elvira (Salvatori) Marinelli. Ann married Lyle D. Sherbine in Rockford on September 23, 1944.He passed away in Rockford on April 9, 2009.She was a receptionist at Cam Car Manufacturing for over 20 years, retiring in 1989. She was in the first graduating class from Rockford East High School in 1943 and received a degree in Pastoral studies from Loyola University.Ann was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, including past President of the Altar and Rosary Society, teacher of religious education for over 30 years, a member of the RCIA program, and a Eucharistic Minister.She was honored as St. Anthony Catholic Church Woman of the year in 2000.Ann and Lyle loved to travel around the US, Asia and especially Italy. They also spent many summers following the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. She was a fantastic cook and baker, enjoyed puzzles, Bingo and playing Pinochle. Special thanks to the staff of The Bickford House and Heartland Hospice for their kind and loving care given to Ann.Survived by her daughter, Elvira "Vira" (Tom) Rudnicki of Rockford and her son, Lyle "Jim" (Laura) Sherbine of Oak Creek, WI; grandchildren, Larissa Rudnicki, Jennifer (Dan) Carlson, Valerie (Seth) Wacker, Elise, Aaron, Chelsea, and Kyle Sherbine; many nieces and nephews including Mary Ann Rush. Predeceased by her parents, loving husband, Lyle, and brothers, Louis and Basil Marinelli.Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 17, 2011 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in St. Mary/St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 " 5pm, with a rosary recited at 4:45pm on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108 and will continue on Monday from 9 " 10am at the church.
