Catherine M. Cebas

Catherine M. Cebas, 94, Rockford, died at 9:17 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 in her home surrounded by people she loved. Born April 5, 1916 in Rockford, daughter of Peter and Theresa Zanocco Gaspari. Married Ben A. Cebas in 1950. Retired from Illinois Water Treatment as the Human Resources Director in 1983 after 32 years of employment. Charter member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Catherine was actively involved in numerous community boards and committees. She enjoyed traveling and her greatest love was always her family. Survivors include her son, James A. (Alice) Cebas; sisters, Elizabeth Bloom, Angeline (Roy) Harrigan, Irene Pauletto and Cornelia Gastner; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her husband in 1977, her parents and her sister, Esther. Catherine's sister Irene was especially devoted to her and was always available for anything that was needed. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank long time family friend, Primo Tanaglia for his continuing dedicated availability throughout the years. Catherine was a blessing to many, many people. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
