Craig "Gomer" A. Mathews

Craig “Gomer” Mathews, 60, of Rockford, Illinois passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019. He was born May 13, 1959 in Dixon, IL the son of Richard and Geraldine (Donaldson) Mathews. Craig grew up in Chana, IL. He was a faithful and dedicated employee who loved working at Rogers Ready-Mix. Craig was an easy going, sincere and generous man. He enjoyed traveling to south Texas, fishing, mushroom hunting and golfing. Craig will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his special longtime friend, Michele Paz; nephew, Patrick MacArthur; niece, Catherine MacArthur and numerous extended family, friends and co-workers and beloved companion Bella. Predeceased by his parents, Richard and Geraldine; sister, Sheryl MacArthur and brother, Gregory Matthews and companion Bailey.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. the Teamsters Hall, 5533 11th St, Rockford, IL 61109. Cremation rites accorded with Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a cause to be determined.
