Cynthia Willson

Cynthia L. Willson, 67, of Rockford, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at home with family by her side. Born January 31, 1949 in Oregon, IL the daughter of William Eugene and Esther (McCulloch) Mongan. Graduated from Mt. Morris High School and married her loving husband Robert L. Willson in the Lighthouse Church in Daysville on June 6, 1970. Cynthia was a member of TOPS, a former Girl Scout Leader, PTO member, room mom and part of the Fans Association at Jefferson High School. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes but truly cherished her time being a wife, mother and especially a nana. She had a heart of gold and loved spending every moment she could with her family and friends, she will be missed dearly. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center for their kind and compassionate care during this difficult time.
Survivors include her daughters, Jane (Jason) Clevenger and Jodi (Jerry) Severson; grandchildren, Logan and Lukas Clevenger and LeAnn and Landon Severson; siblings, Elvira Powell, Karen Martinez, Richard (Connie) Mongan and Steven (Cindy) Mongan; sisters-in-law, Lea Mongan and Marcia Mongan. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 2011, siblings, Rogene Taylor, Darrell, James, William and Mary Kay Mongan.
Memorial service Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Richard Wang officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 in the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. and continues on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Please wear something casual and comfortable. A private inurnment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
