Dominic Tarquini

March 27, 1923 — December 22, 2012

Dominic Tarquini, 89 a lifelong resident of Rockford died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born March 27, 1923 the son of Anthony and Louisa (Bianchi) Tarquini. After high school Dominic entered into the US Army and served as a paratrooper in WWII. He married his loving wife Florence Paris on April 27, 1946 at St. Anthony Church. He was the owner of the DaMar Lounge and the Twin Oaks Restaurant. He then went to work for the US Postal Service retiring in 1988. After retiring he moved on to a job that any avid golfer, like himself, would be proud of and that was being a Ranger at Aldeen Golf Course. Besides golfing Dominics other true passions included gardening and spending time with his beautiful wife, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was important and just being with them meant the world to him. The family would like to extend a sincere heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center 4th floor and ICU for their wonderful compassion and care. Survivors include his wife Florence; daughters, Linda Novak and Louise (Craig) Skolrood; 5 grandchildren Kim (Scott) Pearson, Ryan (Natasha) Novak, Michele (Gordon) Wong, Michael (Colleen) Skorlood, and Greg (Dipal) Skolrood; 6 great grandchildren Dominic, Matthew, Grant, Ella, Madelyn and Marchella, sister, Hilda Bondick and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joe and sisters, Annie Paluzzi and Josephine Martin. Funeral Mass Friday, December 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6284 Valley Knoll. Interment will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, December 27 from 57 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a rosary service to be recited at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to: St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
