Donald "Don" R. Ufkin

Donald “Don” R. Ufkin, 72, Rockford, passed away suddenly Friday, September 9, 2022, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. He was born April 29, 1950, in Rock Falls, the son of LeRoy and Lavonia (Scykes) Ufkin. Don was a graduate of Morrison High School, class of 1968. He was a veteran of the Army serving in Germany from 1968 to 1970. Don was married to Judge Mary Linn Green in Rockford on March 17, 1995. He worked at Rockford Truck Sales for many years and most recently at Rock River Ford until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Don was active in the Rockford Skeet Club, the Gold Wing Riders and a member of the Illinois NRA, the Winnebago County Republican Committee and the University Club. Don had a passion for cars, motorcycles, and anything mechanical. There was nothing that he could not fix.

Survived by his loving wife, Judge Mary Linn Green; his daughter, Tamara Ufkin-Connelly of Beloit, WI; his brother, Ron (Aleece) Ufkin of Homer Glen; his nephews, Kory Ufkin of Portland, OR and James G. (Rachelle Sorg) Ongena of Chicago, and his niece, Amanda (Julius) Calhoun of Homer Glen; and many cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents, his brother, Kevin Ufkin and sisters-in-law, Stephanie Kosobucki and Linda Ongena.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Av. Rockford. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av.
