Donald L. Hogan, 77, of Rockford passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008 in Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, IL. Born September, 5, 1930 in Rockford the son of William and Stella (Lucas) Hogan. He later married Barbara Jean Williams in St. Mary Church in 1953. Don served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Rockford Fire Department for 28 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant in 1984. Don also worked and played at Macktown Golf Course, where he shot6 holes-in-one. Don was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. Don is survived by his children Colleen (Glenn Jr.) Guthrie and Daniel (Deidre) Hogan. Grandchildren Glen (Amy) Guthrie III, Rebecca Guthrie, Michael Hogan, Kevin Hogan, Brendan Hogan and Patrick Hogan. Great-grandchildren Abigail Guthrie and Glen Guthrie IV. Brothers Thomas (Bette) and Paul Hogan, sisters-in-law Margaret Hogan, Iris Hogan, Gloria Paulson, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, brothers William (Rosemary), Robert, John, Raymond and Glen Hogan. Sisters Marion (Jack) Hitchcox and Hazel Hogan. Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bernadette Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel E. Peters officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 2-5 p.m. in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. and from 9 a.m. until time of Mass in the church. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to the Poor Clares Corpus Christi Monastery, 2111 S. Main St., Rockford, IL 61102.
