Donald J. Wolfe 91 of Rockford died Thursday January 31, 2013 in St Anne Center.nbsp; He was born November 23, 1921 in Hartland, IL.nbsp; The son of Joseph and Mary Jane Wolfe.nbsp; Graduate of Beloit Memorial High School class of 1941 (NHS), GRADUATE OF American Technical Society 1942 (HS).nbsp; Combat Veteran 194246.nbsp; Served in General Pattons Third Army with Eleventh Armored Division, Fire Direction Center, 491 st Armored Field Infantry S3.nbsp; Communication School at Fort Knox, Kentucky.nbsp; Participated in the Battle of the Bulge, Germany, Siegfried Line, Kyle River, first and second advance to the Rhine into Austria.nbsp; Member of Armored Division Association, Rank of Sergeant, Marksman Medal and Three Bronze stars.nbsp; Lived in Rockford since 1964, when he married his beloved Sophie Kasputis on July 6, 1964.nbsp; A very happy marriage for 42 years until her death, July 4, 2006.nbsp; An accomplished plectrum guitar soloist.nbsp; He enjoyed playing for fellow GIs while camped in Quonset huts in England.nbsp; Following the end of the war, Don performed at the Festspielhaus in Salzberg Austria.nbsp; Returning from overseas, he graduated from Rockford Business College, completing courses in accounting and business law under the auspices of University of Illinois, Veterans program.nbsp; He held various accounting positions and following retirement concentrated on Investments.nbsp; In the summer he liked to raise tomatoes and keeping a beautiful lawn.nbsp;

Survivors include his sister, Gerry Chekouras of Plover, WI, Niece, Susan (Ken) Chekouras of Plover, WI.nbsp; Nephews, David (Joyce) Chekouras of Rosholt, WI, Carl Chekouras of Stephen Point, WI and James (Grace) Kasputis of Rockford, IL.nbsp; Great Niece, Jenica Chekouras of Waukesha, WI.

Mass of Christian Burial at 11am Tuesday February 5, 2013 in St Anthony Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating.nbsp; Burial in Mount Thabor Cemetery, Beloit, WI.nbsp; Visitation from 10am until time of service Tuesday in the church.nbsp; Express online condolences at www.fizgeraldfh.com
