Earl Leroy Garman

"Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Friend and Neighbor" Earl LeRoy Garman, 85 of Rockford passed away on March 13, 2008 in SwedishAmerican Medical Center. Born March 16, 1922 in Harrisburg, PA the son of Harry and Mabel (Shaw) Garman. Earl married Virginia M. Howard in Rockford on June 21, 1947. Earl proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a decorated Paratrooper with the 82nd Airbourne division. He made combat jumps into North Africa, Sicily and Italy during the war. He worked as a plumber as a member of the Local No.23 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union for over 50 years. Earl loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the time spent in Florida, especially walking along Daytona Beach. Earl was a generous man. That continued after his death with the donation of his organs and tissues for medical and Alzheimers research, as well as medical implantation. Earl is survived by his wife Virginia, son Stephen (Nancy) Garman and daughter Lori (Larry) Pozzi. Grandchildren Shane Garman, Kelly (Trent) Jackson, Madison Garman and Seth, Nathan and Amber Pozzi. Great-grandchild Will Jackson. Brother Charles and sisters Anne and Nancy. Sister-in-law Margaret and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, stillborn daughter Melanie, brothers Harry and Robert, sisters Janet, Katherine and Mildred. Brother-in-laws and sister-in-law Ralph (Beatrice) and Warren Howard. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 pm on March 29, 2008 in the Bickford House, 960 N. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Association, 4777 E.
