Edward "Wayne" Hess, Jr.

Edward “Wayne” Hess, Jr., 61, Loves Park, passed away suddenly Saturday, February 20, 2016, while traveling in Richmond, IN. He was born April 25, 1954, in Gainesville, Fl, the son of Rev. Edward W. and Mariane R. (Harold) Hess, Sr. Wayne married Deetra “Dee” Fizzy in Las Vegas, NV on November 24, 1988. Wayne graduated from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO and later Rock Valley College. He most recently was an owner of his trucking company operating for Cook Logistics of Delavan, WI. Wayne previously worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Rockford Products and later for Camcar Corporation. He also owned and operated various other businesses including Alternative Movers and Captured Moments Photography. Wayne enjoyed exploring many different sports and hobbies including scuba diving with Forest City Scuba, cycling, boating, riding his Harley-Davidson, and target shooting at the Pine Tree Gun Club. Wayne experienced life to the fullest and was a tissue donor after his passing so that others may live.
Survived by his loving wife, Dee of Loves Park; his children, Dr. Erica (Alex) Martinez of La Mirada, CA, Dr. Tiffany (Bryan) Knightly of Orlando, FL and Travis (Melanie) Fizzy of Tampa, FL , all formerly of Rockford; his grandchildren, Elliana and Braxton Martinez, Ella and Carter Knightly, and Monroe Fizzy; his brother, Alvin (Geri) Hess of Dothan, AL; his sisters, Mariane Hess of Geneva, AL and Cindy (Richard) Martin of Roscoe; nieces and nephews, Holli (Lamar) Hess (Driskell), Brianna (Chris) Harry, Kyle Martin; many great nieces and nephews, and his former wife, Teresa Colvin.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
