Eileen C. Burns

Eileen C. Burns, 84, a lifelong resident of Rockford, died Monday November 12, 2007 in OSF St Anthony Medical Center. Eileen was born on December 7, 1922, in Rockford the daughter of Louis R. and Catherine (Quirk) Gilbert and married Thomas Raymond Burns, Jr. in Rockford. Eileen attended grade school at St. Peters Catholic School and graduated from Muldoon High School. She had worked as a legal secretary for the City of Rockford and was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church and former parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and the Cathedral of St. Peter. Eileen was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Bears fan and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Eileen is survived by her two sons Charles G. Burns(Thanhha Nguyen-Burns) and James P. Burns (Kathleen M. Bretl-Burns) and her two sons-in-law, Bradford P. Deery and Jeffery S. Cameron. Eileen was blessed with many grandchildren: Katherine Eileen Cameron, Kelsey Louise Cameron, Emily Elizabeth Cameron, Darby Ann Burns, Kelly Ann Burns, Marie Quynh Burns, Marcus Nguyen Burns, Dominique Anne Deery; Bridget Patrice Deery, Hannah Grace Deery, Natalie Marie Burns, and Thomas Raymond Burns. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Thomas Raymond Burns, her infant son, Thomas Raymond Burns, her two daughters, Margaret Mary Burns Deery and Dr. Mary Colette Burns Cameron, her grand daughter Rosemarie Burns and her brothers, Charles S. Gilbert, Thomas D. Gilbert, Louis R. Gilbert, and Edward J. Gilbert. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 10 am at Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford with Rev. Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 5 pm 8 pm with a rosary service at 7:30 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. and on Friday from 9 am 9:45 am at Cathedral of St. Peter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poor Clares Corpus Christi Monastery, 2111 S. Main St., Rockford, IL 61102.
