Eileen J. Hogshead

Eileen J. (Jansen) Hogshead, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010. Eileen was born January 1, 1930 in Chicago, IL; the daughter of William and Anna (Hausske) Jansen. Married Fred G. Hogshead on July 16, 1949 in Lane Park Methodist Church in Chicago, he predeceased her on July 18, 1974. Eileen worked for over 20 years as the Winnebago County Zoning Director, retiring in 1997. Member of Beth Eden Methodist Church. Eileen received her Masters Degree in Marketing from NIU. She was very active in Local and State Politics. Served as Administrative Assistant for State Senators Betty Ann Keegan and Vivian Hickey. Former officer of the League of Woman Voters, Former President of the Illinois Association of County Zoning and the head Administrator for the US Census in Winnebago County. She was the recipient of the Betty Ann Keegan award for public service and the distinguished service award from the Public Building Commission. Eileen also volunteered her time to the Girl Scouts and PTA. She enjoyed playing board games with her children and grandchildren. Eileen loved to travel and was an avid sports fan especially of baseball and ice skating. The family would like to thank the staff at Alpine Fireside for caring for Eileen.

Survivors include her children, Kathi Davis of Sycamore, Ed (Diana) Hogshead, Susan (John) Mazanowicz and Tom (Kathryn) Hogshead all of Rockford; grandchildren, Kara (Christopher) Eckhardt, Shane (Renee) Davis, Lorraine DeLuca, Jason (Nicola) Hogshead, Chad (Amanda) Hogshead and Neil (Priscilla) Hogshead, Teresa Latham, Kristen Johnson, Jarett Mazanowicz, Emily (Nick) Dugo, Allison Hogshead and Ian Hogshead; great-grandchildren, Garrison, Eileen, Brittney, Tatianna, Damian, Aidan, Gabriella and Just; sisters, Ruth Powell of Safford, AZ and Virginia Jansen of Rockford. Predeceased by her parents and husband, Fred.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Friday, June 18, 2010 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, ILnbsp; 61103. Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00pm Thursday at Beth Eden United Methodist Church, 3201 Huffman Blvd. Rockford, IL and also from 10:00 until service time Friday at the funeral home.
