Harriet L. Reid

Harriett L. Reid, 97 of Rockford, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Wesley Willows. Born September 12, 1919 in Rockford, the daughter of Ira L. & Leslie (Miller) Dougherty. Graduated from Rockford High School, class of 1938. On March 15, 1940 she married James Reid. They farmed the Reid Centennial farm until 1992. Harriett was a volunteer weather observer for 27 years with NOAA and a faithful member of Guilford Gleaners.
She is survived by three children William (Rita), M. Sue Kimsey, and Thomas (Julie); 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by parents, husband, brothers Ira T. , Frank and Robert Dougherty.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial in Guilford Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to either Guilford Gleaners, Guilford Union Cemetery, or Wesley Willow Good Samaritan Fund.
