Hawley Pinkley

March 1, 1931 — May 4, 2012

Hawley "Lee" Pinkley, 81, left for heaven on Friday, May 4, 2012. He was born March 1, 1931 to Viola and Hawley Pinkley in Rockford. He graduated from East High School in 1949. He was proud to have served in the Navy on Essex Carrier CV9 Fighter Squadron Fifty Three during the Korean Conflict. Lee worked at John S. Barnes in production control for 40 years and after retirement enjoyed working at Hickory Knolls Golf Range part time. He loved sports especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears, music and golfing with his sonsinlaw. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Lee is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty; daughters, Marcie (Roger) Heppermann, Cindy Pinkley (Gordon Bradley) and Susan (John) Patch; grandchildren, Nikki, Sara, Rebecca, Emily, Hannah, J.P. and Allison; great grandchildren, Audrey, Jeffrey, Landon and Brennan and brotherinlaw, Gary Confer. Predeceased by his beautiful grandson, Jeff, sister, Jaci Confer and halfsister, Pat Milecki. The family would like to give a special thanks to their friends and neighbors, especially to Scott and Kim Olson, the Nguyen family, Paul and Peg Blair and the Pulfreys.Memorial service will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Third Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Ave at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Murray Hanson officiating with a visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel is assisting the family.
