J. Lindsey Graham, Sr., 65, Rockford, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born September 14, 1948, in Forrest City, Arkansas, the son of James L. and Luella (Harris) Graham, Sr. Lindsey lived in Rockford since 1970. He married Effie Allen in Rockford on June 24, 1978. Lindsey was employed as a hammer operator at Rockford Drop Forge. He enjoyed drag racing and holds the record for the fastest time at the Byron Dragway.
Survived by his loving wife, Effie; his children, James L. (Vera) Graham, Jr. of Rockton, Michael (Veronica) Graham of Little Rock, Arkansas, Kimberle Graham and Kevin Graham, both of Rockford; 19 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby (Ruth) Graham, Charles Graham, and James Lee Graham, Jr., all of Rockford, sisters, Barbara (Dexter) Davis of Rockford, and Elnora Champbell of South Carolina; mother-in-law, Ora 'D Allen of Mississippi; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter De Shun Graham and 2 sisters, Lula Bailey and Mary Hillard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
