JACOB LANE ELSBECKER, 23

ROCKFORD - Jacob Lane Elsbecker, 23, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014, from unexpected heart complications. An enlarged heart was the ultimate cause for his sudden death. For those that have ever known Jacob, it is obviously clear that he had a big heart as he selflessly loved his family and friends. Survived by his parents, father, Dean Elsbecker; mother, Jill (Dvorak) Fowler; and stepfather, Edmund Fowler; siblings, Chase (Robyn) Elsbecker and Emily (Jeffrey) Kittoe; maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Ellen (Neitzel) Dvorak; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jacob is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Donald and Helen Elsbecker. Born January 10, 1991, Jacob never failed to light up a room with his infectious smile, joyful laugh, and sarcastic humor. He graduated from Guilford High School and briefly attended Rock Valley College. Jacob was baptized at Rockford First Church and found strength in prayer. Throughout his short life, Jacob developed many hobbies, including an active addiction to "The Walking Dead," an immense interest in a variety of music genres, and spending time with his precious pup, Lilly. Among other things, Jacob also liked the Chicago Bears, Rastafarian culture, and spending time with family in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Although Jacob was often his own biggest critic, he was unconditionally loved and it is with much comfort to know that he is at peace with God in Heaven. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory Ltd., 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, is assisting family with private arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alpine Bank Highcrest Office or the Alpine Bank East State Street Branch in Rockford, Illinois, c/o The Jacob Elsbecker Memorial Fund.
