Jean Yvonne Morrow Nelson, 88

Jean Dunk Nelson, 88, Rockford, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 14, 2013.
She was born July 17, 1924 to Hazel and Herbert Fransen.
She graduated from Rockford Central High School, Rockford Business College and proudly served her country during WWII as a WAVE.
She was married to Donald Morrow for 25 years before his passing in 1974.
Jean found love again, marrying Harold Nelson in 1982.
Together they had many years of playing golf, traveling and playing cards with close friends before his passing in 2006.
Prior to her retirement, Jean worked for the Rockford School District.
Jean enjoyed many summers at her home on Lake Delavan, Wi and was a Tuesday Niner at the Sandy Hollow Golf Course for decades.
A founding member of St. Anskars Episcopal Church, Jean was strong in her faith, had a kind soul, and a good heart.
She was a wonderful mother who instilled good values in her children, was always there when her strength was needed and exemplified the greatest generation.

Survived by her two children, Martha (Doug) Lindberg of Colorado Springs, CO and Patrick (Lisa) Morrow of Roscoe; grandchildren, Stephanie, Alexandra, Donald and Allyson; her second family, the Nelsons, Cindy (Ken) Rude of Crystal Lake, Patricia Bergeson of Woodstock and Gary Nelson of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Chris, Amy, Kate, Rachael, Mandy and Jack, along with numerous greatgrandchildren.
She is also survived by her trusted companion and guard cat, Nellie.
Jean was also predeceased by her sisters, Elna Culbertson and Carol Ware.

A memorial service of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 in St. Anskars Episcopal Church, 4801 Spring Creek Road with Rev. Andrea Wight officiating.
Visitation from 46 p.m. Friday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road and from 9:3010:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Vets Roll, Inc., 1777 Gardner Street, South Belolit, IL 61080.
