Jeffrey Raymond Sammons, 54

Rockford - Jeffrey Raymond Sammons, 54, died on September 29, 2015 at OSF St Anthony Hospital with his family by his side. He was born October 3, 1960 in Rockford Illinois to Orval and Armella Sammons.
A graduate of Boylan High School and Kishwaukee College, Jeff followed in his dad’s footsteps as a successful sales rep with Met Life receiving many awards. Through the years, he worked at several insurance agencies, Barnes and Noble Bookstore and most recently State Farm Insurance. With his “gift of gab” he loved meeting people and seeing what he could sell them. He followed the Cubs, Bears and Bulls, and loved rehashing games over the phone with his brother Dick. Despite his daughters best efforts to teach him to text, he much preferred connecting with family and friends by phone (usually two calls in a row) keeping them on the phone as long as possible. His most cherished memories were times spent with his daughter Holly who he was so proud of and nothing could beat family gatherings “Up North” where he felt most at peace. He is survived by his daughter, Holly; siblings Doris Chambers (companion Leo Brokish) all of Rockford, Dennis (Connie) Sammons of Arizona, Dick (Rose) Sammons of West Bend, WI, Ellen Schlichting (Phil St Clair) of Rockford; former wife Ann Jurasek Sammons, her mother Nathalie Jurasek and the Jurasek family, and many nieces and nephews. He was blessed to have many wonderful friends especially Greg Parsons and Barbara Hendricks. He was a friend of Bill W.
During the later years of his life, Jeff was forced to deal with many challenging health issues. Being an organ donor, he will once again touch many lives.
Predeased by parents Orval and Armella Sammons, brother in law Wally Chambers, father in law John Jurasek. He joyously meets them in heaven where he undoubtedly will be pulling practical jokes, telling stories and having difficulty sitting still. He is watching over us with a smile on his face.

Celebration of his life will be 2 pm Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. Visitation from 12 noon until time of service.
