Jewell H. Baker

Jewell H. Baker, 92, of Rockford passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014. Born January 16, 1922, in Rosiclare, Illinois, the daughter of Luther and Myra (Roberts) Hicks. She married Edmond R. "Ray" Baker on October 19, 1941 in Jackson, Missouri; they shared 67 years together until he passed on August 5, 2008. She worked at Rockford Products as an Inspector for many years. Jewell loved working in her yard and gardening. She also enjoyed crocheting and collecting dolls. Jewell and Ray were blessed to have wonderful neighbors and friends, and Jewell continued to have their support after Ray passed.
Survived by special daughter, Brenda (John) Parlapiano of Naples, FL; loving grandchildren, Myra (Ben) Glover of Maggie Valley, NC and Deborah (Kevin) Luers of Bloomington, IN.; her adorable great-grandchildren, Abigail Kaye and Zachary Ray Luers; sister, Mary (Richard) McLellan and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, seven sisters and five brothers.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road with Pastor Joe Barefield officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and will continue on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park.
