John A. Mangan

John A. Mangan, 90, Rockford, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011. Born March 13, 1921 in Chicago; the son of William and Catherine (Heffernan) Mangan. Graduated from Austin High School in 1938. John was a veteran of the US Navy, serving his country in Iwo Jima. Upon his honorable discharge he attended Loyola University where he studied prelaw. Johns career spanned nearly 50 years working in law enforcement, he worked for several organizations which include: Chicago Police Dept, UPS, Hilton Hotel Corporation and the US Marshal Service before retiring in 1995 from the Illinois Attorney Generals Office. Member of numerous Fraternal and Religious Affiliations.He is survived by daughters, Patricia (the late James) Pritchard and Barbara (Gary son, Robert (Tina sisters, Mary Crandall and Margaret Fennie; brother, William; 4 grand and 4 great grand children. Predeceased by parents, former wife Ruth and brother, Joseph. Memorial mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at St. Marys Oratory, 517 Elm St. Private burial in Mt.
