John E. "Jack" Cadwell

John E. "Jack Cadwell, 81, of Machesney Park, passed away on November 12, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born July 15, 1936 in Rockford the son of William & Elta (Allen) Cadwell. Jack graduated from Harlem High School, class of 1952. He worked as salesman for Gummow and Muller Pinehurst Dairy for many years. Owner of Cadwell Production Car Shows of Northern Illinois for twenty years. Later he worked for UIC College of Medicine in Rockford in shipping and receiving department. Married Mary Lou Grunwald on June 27, 1986. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Jack enjoyed producing area car shows, visiting their property in Hayworth, WI, going on cruises, and being a rattlesnake hunter.
Survivors include wife, Mary Lou; daughters, Caryl (John) Van Nest, Karla (Randy) Paul, Melissa Thornbloom and Michelle (Chad) Mazeika; stepchildren, Sue (longtime friend Christopher McGrath) Austin, Cyndi Klinger and Tom (Linda) Austin. 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents, one brother and two sisters.
Mass will be 12 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108 and from 11 a.m. to time of mass on Saturday at Holy Family. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a charitable donation to be established at a later date.
