John L. Werner, 83, Rockford, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 in his home in the care of his wife, Betty.nbsp; Born January 23, 1924 in Wauwatosa, WI, son of Louis and Agnes (Henke) Werner.nbsp; He attended Lincoln Grade School, Wauwatosa High School and the University of Wisconsin.nbsp; John served in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1945.nbsp; Married Betty L. Ford on June 22, 1974.nbsp; nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Betty Werner; sons Jeffery (Alex) Werner of Lake Oswego, OR, Jon Werner, Elk Grove Village and daughter, Jill (Kevin) Brinker, Waterford, MI.nbsp; Also survived by 5 step-children, David (Gloria), Daniel (Judy), Andrew (Vicki), Cheryll (Dave), Lori (Todd 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Marion Hofmeister, Wauwatosa, WI. and many nieces and nephews.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents, daughter, Sandra, grandson, Ryan, grandson, Todd, his first two wives, Dorothy and June and sister Laverne of Phoenix, AZ. nbsp; John worked in the building trades and was a partner of Raynor Door Sales.nbsp; He worked for the Federal Government until retirement.nbsp; After retirement, he became a skilled craftsman in scale model ships and aircrafts with an eye for great detail. nbsp; A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Dr. Charles Reagan, Forest City Baptist Church, officiating.nbsp; Cremation rites have been accorded.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center, American Heart Association or Forest City Baptist Church.nbsp; Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
