JOSEPH M. LONERGAN, 63 FOREST PARK - Joseph M. Lonergan, 63, of Forest Park passed away Saturday, August 8th, 2015, suddenly in his sleep. Born February 14, 1952, in Moline, IL to Paul and Mary Lou (Marriott) Lonergan. Joe was the quality manager at the Lombard Swiss Screw Company. A Navy veteran, he served out of NAS Miramar base in San Diego, CA, 1979 to 1985, where he was a Communication Equipment Technician. He was a dedicated member of the Lombardi Club and devoted Irishman. He enjoyed marching with the Irish Marching Society in the annual St. Patrick's Day parade, playing pool, reading and studying history, specifically Roman history. Survivors include his loving wife and soulmate, Kay; siblings, Anne (Bob) Hammes, Carol (Bruce) Trapp, Ken (Michelle) Lonergan, and Tom (Karla) Lonergan; many nieces and nephews of the Lonergan and Edwards Family; Special God daughter, Meranda Edwards; Childhood friend, Tim Brophy, for over 50 years. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Lonergan; and nephews, Danny Trapp and Eddie Molitor. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Cathedral of Saint Peter in Rockford. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108, and also from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of Saint Peter. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
