Josephine Edgren

Josephine “Jo” A. Edgren, 92, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Born October 2, 1922, in Rockford, the daughter of Nicholas and Angelina (Montaleone) Samartano. Josephine was a self-employed hairdresser who enjoyed crocheting, watching old movies, and reading novels by Danielle Steele. Josephine was also a member of the Dancing Dames and liked dancing at the Coronado and Moose Club.
Survived by her son, Randall (Sherry) Edgren; granddaughter, Kayla Edgren and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother, Michael Samartano; Sisters, Bessie Abramovich and Mary Briski, and best friend, Betty Funk.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church 2400 Bell Ave. Rockford, Illinois 61103. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45.
