Joyce T. Apitz, 88, of Rockford, IL, died December 14, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.

Joyce was born September 25, 1930 to Harold O.Totten and Catherine (Simons) Totten Sterne in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1948 and Monmouth College in 1952.
Joyce married William H. Apitz July 12, 1952. He predeceased her on March 12, 1990.

She was a dedicated volunteer at Emmanuel Episcopal Church where she was a 48 year member of the Altar Guild, member of Emmanuel Guild, St. Clare’s Prayer Cell and Clerk of the Vestry.
She was also an Associate of the Society of the Transfiguration, and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Joyce worked at Barber Coleman early in her marriage and retired from Rockford Standard Furniture in 1992.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and was an avid bridge player and mall walker.

Survived by children, Catherine, Lawrence (Patricia) and Jane (Roger) Doran, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren (with three more on the way), three nieces, and three nephews.
Also predeceased by parents; brother, John Totten; identical twin sister, Barbara Sales; niece, Sharon Sales and dear friend and special son, Michael.

Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 412 Park Ave. Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
