Justin A. Slocum, 28 of Machesney Park, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in Joliet. Born July 4, 1984 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center the son of Randy Slocum and Donna Taylor. A 2002 graduate of Harlem High School, Justin went on to serve his plumbers apprenticeship to become a licensed plumber. On September 10, 2011 he married Melissa Moser in Roscoe. He was currently working as a plumber for Vander Vennet Plumbing. He enjoyed fishing, the Chicago White Sox and the Bears. Justin most enjoyed coming home from a long week and spending precious time with his son Jayden either at the movies or just hanging out. He was a kind, caring and loving person who will be missed dearly by all who loved him. Survivors include his wife and son, Melissa and Jayden Slocum of Machesney Park; mother, Donna (Martin) O’Brien of Roscoe; father, Randy Slocum of Wisconsin; sister, Shannon (Tommy) Wise of Wyoming and her children, Tommy and Timmy; brother, Joshua (Emily) Slocum of Roscoe and his son Cole; step sister, Nacine King of Loves Park and her children Corey, Tiffany, Reece, Payton, Danielle and Chance; maternal grandfather, Donald L. Taylor of Machesney Park; paternal grandfather Duane Slocum of Rockford; paternal grandmother, Joann Stout of Waukesha, WI; father and mother-in-law, David and Gayle Moser of Rockford; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Jeff) Warren and her children, Jordynn and Jenna and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Alma Sue Taylor. Funeral service Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11 AM at Hope Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Ken Bergstedt officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21 from 1-4 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his family.
