Kenneth E. Lewis

Kenneth E. Lewis died at home in Rockford on January 21, 2008. Kenneth ""Ken"" was born February 10, 1923, son of Harold and Gladys (Horning) Lewis in Indianapolis, IN. following his formative years in Indianapolis, he served with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. Ken married Sarah McKinley on September 1, 1946 in Delphi, IN. He spent a 43-year professional career at Sears Roebuck and Co. with assignments in Indianapolis, Peoria, IL, Lafayette, IN, Ottawa, IL and Bay City, MI, before arriving in Rockford in 1967 and retiring here in 1984. As a loving, caring, and generous man, he will be missed by family and friends alike who are most thankful for the time and memories with him. He is survived by his wife Sarah, daughters Susan Nagy, Karen (David) Carter, Nancy (Michael) Marvell; grandchildren, Mark Nagy, Sarah Marvell (Luke) Nelson, Ann Marvell, Tyler Carter and Ryan Carter. Ken and family would like to thank Jesse Rico and family for their loving support and care during his recent illness. A memorial service will be held in Delphi, IN followed by inurnment in the Delphi Masonic Cemetery in mid-summer. Memorials may be given to the Barbara Olson Center of Hope.
