Kevin L.Shackelford of Colorado Springs, CO. died Saturday, May 19, 2007 of a massive heart attack.nbsp; Born October 2, 1965 in Rockford, IL, the son of Darrell amp; Jeannette McQuay Shackelford.nbsp; He married Pauline Abernathy on December 7, 1985 in Rockford.nbsp;nbsp; Kevin was retired from the US Army on June 1, 2006 after 20 years of service.nbsp; nbsp; Base assignments included Ft. Benning, GA, Ft. Drum, NY, Ft. Carson, CO, Ft. Richardson, AK, Ft. Wainwright, AK, Camp Red Cloud, Korea amp; Balad, Iraq. nbsp; Mission duties included: Honduras, Thailand, California, Arizona, Arkansas, New York, Ft. Knox, Kuwait, Louisiana amp; Texas. nbsp; Kevin was currently self employed as the owner of Schackelfords Maintenance Company.nbsp; He also enjoyed buying and selling homes. nbsp; Survived by his wife, Pauline (Abernathy) Shackelford; his son, Hunter Shackelford, 17 nbsp;and his daughter, Haley Shackelford, 16; parents, Darrell amp; Jeanette Shackelford, sisters and brother, Jequetta (Greg) Surufka, Renee (Dave) Johnson, Nathan (Shayne) Shackelford; mother-in-law,nbsp; Beulah Abernathy; brothers-in-law, Steve (Vickie) Abernathy, Brian (Sue) Abernathy and Denny (Monica) Abernathy; nieces and nephews Sara, Doug, Eric, Adam, Donavan, Zane, Tristen, Jason, Jonathon, Bing, Stephanie, Kent, Danielle, Jessica, Nicole amp; Miranda and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.nbsp; Predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Audrey McQuay; paternal grandfather, Burley Shackelford and paternal grandmother, Marie Bradshaw; father-in-law, Don Abernathy; aunt, Juanita McFadden and uncle Lester Manning.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;
Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 26, 2007 atnbsp;Fitzgerald Funeral Homenbsp;amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.nbsp;with Rev. Buddy Brown and Rev. Danny McQuay officiating. Visitation will be from 5 8 pm on Friday, May 25, 2007 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
