Leonard Adrignola 86 of Rockford passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in Riverbluff Nursing Home. He was born December 28, 1924 in Rockford , IL , the son of Carlo and Lucy Adrignola. He married Mary Cassaro in Rockford . He worked for Winnebago Cabinet Company for many years and also was part owner of Westmor Bowl. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a tail gunner in the 8 th Air Force serving in the European Theatre, where he received the distinguished Flying Cross Medal. Member of St Patrick Church for many years. He also belonged to many clubs, including, Combat Fliers Group, Rockford Area Coin Club and an honorary member of the 2 nd Infantry Division.Survivors include his wife Mary, four children, Leonard Jr. (Lucy) Adrignola of Roscoe , Carl (Kristine) Adrignola of Rockford, Michael (Diane) Adrignola of Phoenix, AZ and Theresa (Robb) Sinks of Rockford. Grandchildren, Gina, Tynan, Aaron, Jessica and Jenni. Great grandchildren Austin, Becky, Kaylee and Nick. Brothers and Sisters, Sam (Anna) Adrignola of San Diego , CA , Tony Adrignola of Rollin, MT and Josephine (Carl) Benassi of Rockford . Special friends Teena and Chuck Newburg.Funeral service at 10am Monday June 27, 2011 in Emmanuel Episcopal Church 412 N. Church Street, with Fr. Thomas Rosa officiating Burial in Calvary Cemetery . Visitation from 3pm until 5pm Sunday June 26, 2011 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home Riverside Chapel. Visitation also from 9am until time of service Monday in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
