Lucille Irene (Mccarty) Mercer

Lucille Irene Mercer, 88, of Loves Park, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Lucille was born in New Auburn, WI, on July 6, 1927; to parents Asa and Irene (Deminski) McCarty. Lucille married her loving husband, Glen Mercer in 1956. Lucille and Glen loved to travel in their RV to various destinations across the country. They enjoyed life as a couple; wherever it took them, they got there together, and that’s what mattered most. Lucille will be missed greatly, and her family will love her always.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Mercer; siblings, Norma Calkins, Sharon “Mary” Niezgodski, and John McCarty; and many nieces and nephews.
Lucille is predeceased by her parents; brothers, Ed McCarty and Jerome McCarty; sisters, Katherine Green and Pat Williamson.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016; at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108; with the Rev. Dan Herman of the Old Stone Church, Rockton, officiating. Burial will follow to the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family.
