Marian E. Phelps

Marian Elaine (Andrews) Phelps, 93 Passed peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2012 in her home. Born January 2, 1919 in El Paso, IL, the daughter of Percy and Faerie Andrews. Graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music. Married Charles Joseph Phelps on June 27, 1948. They settled in Park Forest, IL where they lived for 34 years. Active members of Faith United Protestant Church. Marian taught music in Rushville, Rockford, Morris, and Park Forest. Upon their retirements, Joe and Marian lived between Mesa, AZ and Rockford, where they lived with their daughter and her family. Survivors include daughter, Peggy (David) Babb; grandsons Joseph Ivacic (fianca(c)e Jin Levitsky James (Aya) Ivacic; niece, Celicia (Henry) Upper. Predeceased by parents and a sister, Louise Mayne. Her family is grateful for the loving care of Cely Padolina, In Home Services, and Heartland Hospice. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Independence Village, 3655 N. Alpine, Rockford. A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Calvertamp; Froelich Memorial Home, 209 N. Grant Street, El Paso, IL.
