Mary A. Hansen Jury

Mary A. Hansen Jury, 77Rockford- Mary was born Feb. 1, 1933 at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Her father was Paul Hansen, born in Frankfort, Germany and her mother was Catherine Beatrice Martin Hansen, born in Crocker , South Dakota. Mary graduated from Muldoon High School in 1950. A year after high school she entered the Sisters of St. Dominic in Adrian, MI. She was there for 20 years, praising God and teaching. Due to the illness of her mother, she received the dispensation to come home and care for her. While in the convent, she became a teacher and taught for 19 years in the Catholic school system. When she came home she taught for 20 years at Prairie hill Elementary School. She married Russell Jury in 1981 . She retired from teaching in 1992 and in 1993 she became a dedicated volunteer for Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center. Among the many roles she filled there were typing and computer work. Mary's quiet manner and loving approach to all those she came in contact with exemplified her faith and her dedication to improving the lives of others. Survivors include her husband, Russell; sister, Paula of Palm Harbor, FL. She also leaves her step children and their families, Carol (Terry) Johnson and daughters Tandy and Annie Johnson, Jim Jury and his son, Nicholas; nieces, Beth Shubert, Oshkosh, Julie and Greg Wellwerts, Zack, Marley and Malia and Gemma, Petrece and John Klein, Tanner and Kylee and other nephews and friends. Special friends Joe and Marie Montalvo and daughters Bianca and Kiana and Tom Dean and all of her students were always considered to be part of her family. Preceded by her father Paul in 1963, her mother, Catherine in 1981, her sister, Catherine Schubert in 1985 and her sister, Margaret Faulkner in 2005. At the family's request, all services will be private. Memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center, 4215 Newburg Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside chapel is assisting the family.
