Mary Jane Taphorn

Mary "Jane" Taphorn, 95, Rockford, died at 7:15 am Tuesday, August 3, 2010 in Provena Cor Mariae Center. Born August 9, 1914 in Rockford,daughter of William G. and Nora Conners Taphorn. Graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School. Jane spent 40 years as a secretary for General Motors Corporation, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and the Catholic Womens League. Survivors include 8 nieces, 5 nephews, numerous great nieces and great nephews and many cousins. Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Robert, William, Richard and Edward, a niece and a nephew. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in the chapel of Provena Cor Mariae Center with Rev. William R. Wentink officiating. Burial in St. Mary/St. James Cemetery. Visitation from 8:30 am until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poor Clare Corpus Christi Monastery.
