Mary V. Stanfel

Mary V. Stanfel, 97, of Rockford, passed away February 15, 2019 in the home of her loving daughter Susan and Claude. Born January 25, 1922 in Cincinnati, IA, the daughter of John & Rachel (Vanderville) Samson. Lived most of her life in Rockford, coming here from Cincinnati, IA. Married Charles C. Stanfel in Unionville, MO, on July 19, 1939, they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Member of Church of the Brethren. She was a homemaker, enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her family, and was proud to serve as an Election Judge for many years.
Survivors include daughters, Linda (Jim) Caciola and Susan Gillette (Claude) daughter-in-law, Becky Stanfel (Dave); 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Charline Doney and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; brother, Bill Samson; husband; children, Richard Stanfel, Roberta Schnorr and Sheryl Wells; grandson Louis Gillette.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February, 21, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108, with the Rev. Randy Young officiating.
