Orvin L. "Orv" AndersonLoving Father and Grandfather Orvin L. "Orv" Anderson, 78, a resident of Rockford for 60 years, died on November 26, 2009 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Orvin was born December 7, 1930 in Readstown, Wisconsin, the son of Ole and Emma Anderson. Orvin married Sonja Rostamo on November 8, 1958 in Rockton, IL. Orvin attended school in Readstown, leaving to serve in the U.S. Navy in 1948, and then moving to Rockford in 1949. He was employed for many years at Mississippi Valley Erection Company, Jewel Foods, and Odling Construction Company before retiring in 1999. Orvin was a member of Teamsters 710, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and a lifetime member of SM & SF, Blackhawk Athletic Club, Harmony Singing Society, and the LLL Club where he was the former President and Chairman of the Board. He loved the outdoors, his garden, fishing, and spending time with his family and his many friends. He will be greatly missed by many. Orvin is survived by his children, Karen (Tom) Dal Santo, Danny Anderson, and Karla Anderson; grandchildren, Alex and Bryan Dal Santo; brothers, Carl (Betty), Ken (Geri), Edward (Val), and David (Lila) Anderson; sisters-inlaw, Phyllis Anderson, Karen Silva, Rachel Rostamo, and LouAnn Rostamo; and several nieces, nephews and a large host of treasured friends. Orvin was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Sonja (Feb. 12, 2004 brothers, Melvin and Paul Anderson; sisters, Edna Lieurance, Olivia Lieurance, Myrtle Dahlberg, Bernice Green, and Mary Crow. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 11 A.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.With Rev. Ralph Kuespert officiating. Burial will be in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 from 5 8 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until time of service.
