Philip J. Phil Ursin, 72, Rockford, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011, in his home a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born December 15, 1938, in Chicago, the son of Wilhelm and Margaret (Gulbrandson) Ursin.
Phil married Joan Sears Karr in Rockford on November 5, 1970.
He was employed as a salesman at Rockford Standard Furniture for 27 years,
and later in sales for ADT Security Services, and then as a salesman at Ingrassia Furnitures Interior Elements.
He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
Phil loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed time with friends.

Survived by his loving wife of almost 41 years, Joan; his son, Brian (Marianna) Karr of Savage, Minnesota , his daughter, Amy (Bill) Lavery of Rockford; grandchildren, Jacob and Nathaniel Karr, and Noelle and Will Lavery; sistersinlaw, Bette and Jeanne Sears.
Predeceased by his parents, his sister, Joan McleanUrsin, motherinlaw and fatherinlaw, Marion and Mary Sears, 2 brothersinlaw, William and Robert Sears. Special thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center, especially Brenda, Sue, Lisa, Michelle and Lashanta, Dr. Lim, and the staff at the Center for Cancer Care at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, and all of our longtime friends for their care and compassion during Phils illness.

Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00am, Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford with Reverend Woody Knutson officiating. Visitation from 9:30am until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center, 4215 Newburg Rd. Rockford, 61108 and Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural St. Rockford, 61107.
