Ralph Overton

Ralph Overton, Sr., 71, Rockford, formerly of Elgin, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 in his home. Born June 25, 1939 in Wilson, AR, son of Robert Overton, Sr. and Beatrice Branch Overton. Graduated from Harrison High School in Blytheville, AR and attended Elgin Community College, Judson College and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Married Gloria S. Lewis in Burdette, AR in March of 1962. Member of Progressive Baptist Church in Elgin. He was employed by the U46 School District in the custodial department at Sunnydale Elementary School.Survivors include his wife, Gloria; children, Hollis (Eleanor) Overton, Belvidere, Ralph (Dawn) Overton, Jr, Machesney Park and Pat Bernita (James) Morris, Rockford; grandchildren, Chonta, Ashton, Kaylyn, Ella, Quentin, Jeremy, Jessica, Jamelia and Jamera; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Clover (Thomas) Wilson, Tewksbury, MA; brother, Percy Eugene (Dorothy) Overton, Turrell, AR and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; infant daughter, Ella Beatrice Overton and brother, Robert Overton, Jr.Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
