Richard A. Rohner

Richard A. Rohner, 91, of Rockford, died Saturday, August 06, 2011 at Wesley Willows. Born November 26, 1919 in Dubuque, IA the son of John and Susan (Wilging) Rohner. A United States Veteran of the Army serving in WWII in the 1 st Calvary in the South Pacific. Worked for KDTH Radio in Iowa for some time and went on to work as a terminal manager for trucking companies, retiring in 1982. A member of St. Bernadette Catholic church and the YMCA retired men's club. Richard was well known for his creative writing style and loved to write detective stories that always had a funny way of expressing the plot. He was able to make you laugh and he enjoyed putting a smile on people's faces. Richard was also a long time Green Bay Packer Fan. He was a wonderful man who cared for his family very much; he will be missed by all. Survivors include his children, Kathy (Jim) Rehwald, Sue (Phil) Vecchio and Michael (Jill) Rohner all of Rockford; grandchildren, Tony (Rachel) Vecchio, Matt Rehwald and Caroline Rohner. He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life Mary Rohner. Funeral Mass, Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of prayer at 10:15 a.m.in the parish hall. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Winnebago. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
