Richard D. Pomering

Richard D Pomering, 68, passed away on January 14, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 22, 1951 in Rockford, Illinois. The son of Darwin and Violet (Tucker) Pomering. A 1969 graduate of Guilford High School, he became a machinist for the majority of his adult life and later retired as a bus driver for Rockford Public Schools. He was a faithful member of the Methodist religion. Richard had a love for animals and gardening. He had a fascination with ancient civilizations, researching their religions and ways of life. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, a PBA member and enjoyed bird watching with his beloved wife. A special thanks to Serenity Hospice and Peak Medical Home Care for all of the care and special attention they gave to Richard in the last few months of life.
He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of 34 years, Terri (Eifert) Pomering; children Greg (Michelle), Eric, and Nicholas; grandchildren Justin, Randi, Autumn, Brooke, Alyson, Anthony, AnaMarie and Samara; great-grandchildren Becky, Devon, Brylee and Joshy; Sister Debbie Borgstrom; numerous nieces and nephews and his dogs Precious and Peanut.
Richard was predeceased by his parents and brother, Ken Pomering.
A visitation for Richard will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21st, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108.
