Richard L. Goff, 63, died on December 2 in his home. Dick was born August 20, 1948 in DeKalb Illinois to Gilbert and Helen Goff. He received his MBA from Northern Illinois University and spent his entire career at Rockford Products Corp, retiring as president of Rockford Products International.

Dick enjoyed giving back to the community and was very active in a number of notforprofit organizations. He was a past chairman of The Salvation Army Advisory Board of Directors and headed its food drive and PaintAThon for several years. He was also a past board chair of the Rock River Valley Food Pantry and current chair of its advisory committee.

In addition, Dick was a past board chair of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Rock River Valley allocations chair, a Crusader Community Health Foundation board member, and served on the Mayors Task Force on Hunger. He was a member of Forest Hills Country Club.

Dick received several awards and recognition for his volunteer work in the community, including Crusader Community Health Cares a?Spirit of Caringa? Award, Rockford Rotarys a?Service Above Selfa?, Salvation Army Individual Community Service Award and a?Othersa? Award, J.C. Penny a?Golden Rule Awarda? and Rockford Lions Service Award. Dick was also a Register Star Excalibur Award finalist. Dicks colleagues considered him a true gentleman with a ready smile, kind words and an easy ability to relate to everyone.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jody; brother Steven (Karen) Goff; brotherinlaw Jeffrey Johnson; sisterinlaw Julee (John) Cranfill; nieces and nephews Tracey (LeRoy) Geske, Amy (Daniel) Brunk, Jason (Kristin) Goff, Erikka, Shawn and Matt (Tanya) Johnson, Jamie and John Cranfill and several cousins in his hometown of DeKalb. Dick was predeceased by his parents.

Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Road. A celebration of Dicks life will be held Thursday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at The Salvation Army Temple, 500 S Rockford Avenue, with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Private family burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to The Salvation Army of Winnebago County, 500 S. Rockford Avenue, Rockford, IL 61108 or to a charity of choice.
