Richard "Rich" E. Hiteman, 72

Rockford—Richard "Rich" E. Hiteman, 72 of Rockford died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Anne's Center. Born July 9, 1941 in Freeport, Illinois to Adlai and DeVere (Shaffer) Hiteman. Married Celia McCain on December 10, 1983.

Rich attended Freeport schools and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Platteville. He worked in sales and marketing throughout his life, along with part ownership in Freeport and Florida businesses.Through career moves Rich lived in Florida, South Carolina and eventually Rockford. Rich loved music with Hard Rock and the Blues being a life long passion. He was an avid golfer, Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.

Survivors: Wife, Celia; Children, Kathy (Carl Nolen) Hiteman, Kristin Quackenbush, Beverly McCain, Brenda Swift and Dan (Lydia) Swift; Step-mother, Wilma Hiteman and Mother-in-law June Ring; Grandchildren, Chase Marty, Alex Quackenbush, Megan Swift, Shane Swift and Ashleigh Eastman; Great-Grandchildren Preston and Levi; Sisters, Mary Ann Hiteman, Suzanne (Sam) Hille and Angela Hiteman; Brother-in-law Grant Ring and Sister-in-law Paula (Al) Koch; numerous nieces and nephews, special pets, Dolly, Sugar and Lovie; many wonderful friends and golf buddies. Predeceased by his parents.

A Celebration of life is scheduled for June 16, 2014 at the SM & SF Club 1010 Sandy Hollow Road from 5 to 9 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded.
