Robert L. Pengilly

LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, AND GRANDFATHER
Robert L. Pengilly, 77, Rockford, found peace at 3:10 am. Sunday, March 1, 2009, in Nelson Debes Subacute Care Unit. Robert was born June 20, 1931, in Pisek, North Dakota. The son of Ernest R. and Florence M. (Cree) Pengilly. He lived in Rockford since 1975. Robert married his best friend, Donnley A. Trosen, on June 16, 1954, in Conway, North Dakota. He worked at Sundstrand Corporation retiring in August, 1991, after 39 years. Robert was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953 and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Survived by his daughters, Kathy (Robert Kubicek) Pengilly of Crystal Lake, MaryEllen (Dan Coffey) Pengilly of Greensboro, North Carolina, son Robert M. Pengilly, Rockford; grandchildren, Justin Kubicek and Bailey Coffey; brother Richard (Lillian) Pengilly, Park River, North Dakota; sister-in-law, Emma Pengilly of Vaughn, Montana; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, parents, brothers, Darrell and Eugene, sisters, Virginia Samuelson and Margaret Trosen. Robert will be held in the hearts of those he left behind.
Funeral Mass will be held 9:30am, Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr. Rockford, IL 61109 with Monsignor Gerald P. Kobbeman officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, with a Scripture Service at 7:45pm, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
