Shirley A. Fransen

Shirley A. Fransen, 74, of Rockford, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Sunday, March 4, 2018 in her home surrounded by family. Born April 27, 1943, in Caton, IL, the daughter of Edward & Lydia (Thurston) Stevenson. Graduated from Rock Valley College. Worked for Rockford Clinic for over 5 years. Married Roger Fransen on January 30, 1971. Shirley was an active member with Maywood Evangelical Free Church, especially with choir and leading Bible study groups. She enjoyed gardening, decorating and traveling to Alaska, Florida and weekend trips to Door County with Roger.
Survivors include husband, Roger; children Lydia Hendricks and her family Monica, Amber, Chad and Joseph; Yvonne (Scott) Mills and her children Julia and Reagan; Mark (Jane) Fransen; Michael (Kim) Fransen and his family Paige and Tylor; great grandchildren Janiah and Roman; sister Sharon (Roger) and her family Edward, Roger and Steven. Predeceased by her parents. The family would like to thank Northern Illinois Hospice for their care and compassion.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Rd, Rockford, IL, with the Reverend Gary Kniseley officiating. Visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to Maywood Evangelical Free Church.
