Susan L. Nilles

Susan went home with our Lord on Monday August 5, 2013. Born July 29, 1945 in Chicago to Raymond and Alma Hebel. Married Raymond F. Nilles on May 8, 1965 in Markham, IL. Susan led a courageous and joy filled life. She graduated from Bremen High School In 1963 and obtained her Nursing Degree in 1979 at Rock Valley and then her bachelors of Science Degree from the College of Saint Francis in 1986. She worked for Swedish American Hospital, Rockford Memorial Hospital and Ask A Nurse until retiring in 1998. She was very caring and compassionate person sharing her boundless energy and love with everyone she met. She loved to travel and visit family and friends across the states, with her favorite places being Wald Disney World and Hawaii. She will be forever missed by her family and they include her husband, Raymond; children, Angela (Brett) Henbest, Joel (Chantel) Nilles and Cynthia (Eric) Mieland; mother, Alma Hebel Minen; grandchildren, Samantha and Anastasia Henbest, Addison, Cale, Marin and Kye Nilles, Tiegan and Morgan Mieland; sister, Gail (Robert) Ulloa; brother, Raymond (Marilyn) Hebel, Jr., special niece, Karen Short; brothers-in-law, Jim (Blythe) Nilles, Lawerance (Merrily) Nilles, Richard (Carol) Nilles and David Nilles; sisters-in-law, Judith Mills, Barbara (Don) Marsh and Laura (Bernard) Short; Godson, Rick Nilles and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and special friends. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Hebel, Sr.; niece, Kristina Hebel Schweda; stepdad, George Minen and in –laws, Raymond and Lillian Nilles. Susan and her family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice and In Touch Home Care Services for their caring and compassion in her final days. Memorial service Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Alpine Rd. at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at church from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, VNA Hospice or The MS Foundation. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel is assisting the family.
