Sylvia M. Ricotta

Sylvia M. Ricotta, 87, of Rockford died Friday, May 29, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center. Born May 5, 1928 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa the daughter of Herman and Alice Potter. Married her loving husband, Joseph J. Ricotta on Nov. 22, 1947 he preceded her in 1998. A longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and enjoyed Fish Frys, going out to eat, doing ceramics and spending time with family and friends. The family wishes to thank Marti Faulkner, Marilyn and Joe Rinaldo, Janine Ricotta, her many friends and staff at Christian Life Retirement Center, the staff at Rosewood Care Center and Northern Illinois Hospice and Transitions Hospice for their care, kindness and support.
Sylvia is survived by her grandson, Joseph Peterson, twin sister, Sandy (Sylvesta) (George) Elias of AZ, brothers and sisters-in-law Sam (Connie) Ricotta, Theresa Boriero, Mary Ricotta and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Husband; son, Charles and numerous siblings.

Funeral Mass Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic church. Burial to be held in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at church in the Parish Hall from 10 a.m. until time of prayer at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family.
