Theodore "Ted" Robert Cahill

Theodore "Ted" Robert Cahill, 43, Pleasant Hill, California, was born in Rockford, IL on April 24, 1971, to Bob and Ann (Lorden) Cahill. He died on November 29, 2014, peacefully surrounded by his family and friends after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Teddy cherished his years growing up on N. Highland Ave. Ted graduated from East High School in 1989 and attended DePaul University in Chicago, IL. In 1994, he moved to California, landing a job with Ralph Nader, before moving on to the California Nurses Association. While in California, he became an avid golfer, master chef, and gifted community and labor organizer. On November 10, 2007, Ted married the love of his life, Karen Chan, and eventually settled in Pleasant Hill, CA shortly before the birth of their son Ryan Robert on July 7, 2012, where they built a wonderful life together.

Ted is survived by his wife Karen and their son Ryan of Pleasant Hill, CA; mother Ann (Lorden) Cahill, Rockford, IL; sister Margaret (Douglas) Bottorff, niece Frances and nephews Henry and Emmett of Iowa City, IA; in-laws Man Wai and Sue Chan, Paul (Tammy) Chan and nephew Aiden, Wanda (Tom Simonian) Chan, Daniel Chan, Oakland, CA; aunts Mary Milani, Rockton, IL; Kate Schrago, Switzerland; uncles Tom (Nancy) Lorden, Tim Lorden, Rockford, IL, Larry Cahill, Olympia, WA; many cousins especially Mike, Pat, Tim, Colleen Milani; Tommy, Danny, Kathleen, Molly Lorden; Erika and Michael Schrago and all of their families. Ted is predeceased by his father Robert E. Cahill, grandparents E. Michael and Gertrude Lorden, Robert and Edna Cahill; uncles John Lorden, Don Cahill, Harry Milani. Ted leaves many friends who meant so much to him especially Joe Schuman, Andy Pontious, Bill Gallagher, Lynn and Tad Keyes. The family would like to extend our sincerest love and gratitude to all of the nurses who cared for and comforted Ted.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford with Reverend David Beauvais officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
