Warren Hardcastle

Warren Hardcastle, 88, of Rockford, IL passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.nbsp; Born March 16, 1923 in Royalton, IL; the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Smith) Hardcastle.nbsp; Warren worked as an Industrial Engineer at Republic Steel.nbsp; He was a military police officer in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Okinawa on a ship.nbsp; Warren was an avid golfer and loved to fly. Everyone that knew Warren would have known that he was a devoted family man. nbsp;nbsp;He was a caregiver, encourager and kind to all he met.nbsp; Warren was selfless and made sure his family came first.nbsp; Warren married Eleanor Pigeon in 1950; she preceded him in death September 1997.nbsp; Survivors include his daughter Cindy (John) Hardcastle-Tompkins, six grandchildren, Nicole Kiefer Sisko, Kristen (Frank) Kiefer Mora, Michael Colin Kiefer, Trina (Stephen) Tompkins nbsp;McNeilly, John Warren Tompkins, Amy Tompkins, nine great grandchildren, Ryan, Alexandra, Nicholas, Michael, Elizabeth, Ella, Luke, Liam and Rockwell, one sister, Norma Tourlas.nbsp; He was predeceased by one daughter Marie Kiefer and twelve siblings.nbsp; Special thanks to his caregiver Sara for the loving care she gave him the past three years, Dr. DeHaan, Dr. Tawfik and Transitions Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Warren. Visitation will be from 3-6 pm Sunday July 24, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home- Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 611108.nbsp; Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon Monday, July 25, 2011 at Opyt Funeral Home, 13350 S. Baltimore Avenue, Chicago, IL 60632, with a one hour visitation prior to the service.nbsp; Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASPCA Society.
