Obituary

Andre Antoine Guerin, 53, heartbreakingly passed away suddenly on May 4, 2026, in his hometown of Rockford, Illinois. He was born on March 8, 1973, son to Andrew Antoine and Vernett (McIntosh) Guerin. He would go on to attend East High School, class of 1991, and that is where a pivotal piece of Andre’s life story would take place; he would meet his future bride, Tina Lake. His devoted mother and educational path took him to Upper Iowa University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. Andre followed his dad’s footsteps at Chrysler where he built a successful career for over 25 years and transitioned to Collins Aerospace for the remainder of his career. Outside of his professional development, Andre loved basketball, yardwork, tinkering with cars, and traveling with Tina. Sports and fitness were also vital parts of Andre’s life. An athletic man who enjoyed the gym and a spirited game of basketball, he maintained a polished appearance that became somewhat of a trademark. Many who knew him personally would smile, knowing he often arrived “just a little late” to events, because looking sharp was important to him; it was an outward display of his respect. Andre’s personality was one of quiet depth, he didn’t rush to speak, but when he did, it came from a place of trust and understanding. He had a signature grin and a contagious laugh and those in the room with him always felt loved and uplifted by his presence. He would go on to marry his other half, Tina, on June 2, 2005, amidst the serene beauty of Maui. Maui became more than just a backdrop for Andre and Tina; it was a sanctuary for their sacred annual trips. He was a brother that had a tenacious and everlasting bond with his sister, and he acknowledged Christ in his life. His faith guided him and he easily poured that love back into his family. His circle knew him as a man who truly loved and protected his people, those chosen few who were blessed to call him a friend or family, including special friend Cornell Taylor.

He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife, Tina; his mother, Vernette; his sister, Marshell (Corey) Hughes and his niece and nephew, Alivia and Corey II; Father-in-law Dan (Susan Orr) Lake; sisters-in-law Tonya Lake and Stacey (Chris) Wilde, and beloved nieces and nephew, Morgan, Claire, Anna Marie, and Corbin. Andre is predeceased by his father, Andrew Guerin.

A time to gather in honor if his memory will take place on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service, 11:00 a.m., with a repass to follow. A private burial will take place with the immediate family at Greenwood Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to the OSF staff that took great care of Andre.
