Armer Martin Swanson passed from this life into the Kingdom of Glory on September 15, 2026, in Rockford, Illinois. He was born on July 12, 1925, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Adolph and Alice (Browman) Swanson. Armer lived a life shaped by hard work, service, deep community connections, and an unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ. Raised on a farm, he developed a lifelong passion for agriculture that not only informed his practice of medicine but cultivated in him an appreciation of all living things. He earned his master’s degree in agriculture from the University of Illinois Champagne and attended AKK Medical School at U of I. He went on to serve as an OBGYN physician at UW Swedish American and Canfield Clinic in Rockford, IL where he cared for countless patients over the course of his career. As an obstetrician-gynecologist, he delivered many babies, a role that reflected both his skill and his dedication to others. In addition, he was a long time member of the Rotary in Rockford reflecting his commitment to community and fellowship. During his retirement, Armer applied his medical knowledge as a coroner judge on the Winnebago county coroners jury. 

He was a man of many hobbies, including gardening, golfing, woodworking, collecting stamps, coins and decoy ducks. Music was another lasting pleasure in his life, especially jazz, and he was known to tinkle the ivories so well as to get the most stoic of souls tapping his feet. Armer was a generous and positive man, a hard worker, a developer, and a philanthropist. Among all of his accomplishments, the one he held most dear was being a father and grandfather. He looked forward each year to celebrating Christmas with his beloved family and leading advent devotions.

Armer Martin Swanson will be remembered for his service, his faith in Christ, and the steady, generous spirit he brought to the people around him. His life leaves a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Curtis and Lisa (David) Keuchenberg; grandchildren, Heather (Frank) Modica, Brandon (Joslin) Curtis, Michael (Kimberly) Kuechenberg, Anneliese Kuechenberg, Matthew Kuechenberg, and Mark Kuechenberg; great-grandchildren, Luca Modica, Oliver Modica, Layla Curtis, David Curtis, and Sophia Kuechenberg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his wife, RoseMae; parents, Adolph and Alice (Browman) Swanson; brother, Wendel (Irene) Swanson; and son-inlaw, David Curtis.
